Christmas is looming, I can’t believe the time has flown by so, so quickly. If you read my previous post, you’ll hopefully have been saving up those Larozza Crema ground coffee beans and drying them over the past few weeks. Today I’m going to show you how to make a sparkly choca-mocha-mint body scrub (sounds deelish doesn’t it?) with those coffee beans. You could use instant coffee, but ground coffee beans is so much better, both in terms of how they taste in coffee and how they are for you.
I loved the Larozza Crema ground coffee beans for a cup of coffee as the taste is so robust and strong, just how I like. The ground beans feel much finer than other ground beans I’ve used, which means that in a body scrub, it isn’t harsh on your skin. Coffee in a body scrub is beneficial as it acts as an exfoliant. Some say coffee scrubs are good for removing cellulite, some say it’s good at waking up tired skin (because of the caffeine). It’s all debatable. But one thing that everyone agrees on is that it acts as an excellent exfoliant.
The scrub smells good enough to eat and leaves your skin seriously smooth. Personalised presents are always nice to receive, and this scrub is unique, perfect as a present for a girlfriend, boyfriend, sister, mum or friend. Who doesn’t want chocolate in a Christmas present?
You need:
Jar
Larozza Crema ground coffee beans dried after use
Brown sugar (enough to fill the jar)
2 tbspns cacao powder (or cocoa powder)
2 tbspns Coconut oil
1/2 or 1/4 jar of virgin olive oil
Few drops of peppermint essential oil
Glitter
Fill the jar with the sugar. Pour that into a bowl with cacao powder and the dried coffee beans and mix.
Slowly pour the olive oil into the sugar mixture and mix. Stop when it becomes a little more than firm, otherwise it will feel very sludgy and greasy.
Stir in the coconut oil. It doesn’t matter whether it is solidified or liquid form as it should mix well. The coconut oil is full of skin benefits, like helping to smoothen the skin.
Add a few drops of peppermint essential oil (or any other oil). I buy mine from Holland & Barrett. This really helps if you have winter blues, fight the cold, de-stresses or calms the skin after an allergic reaction. If you are using the body scrub as a face scrub, and you suffer from acne, use tea tree oil instead.
For the finale, to make this a sparkly number, add some glitter to truly make it Christmassy (and mix)!
The coffee, chocolate and mint scents work so well, by the time you’ve finished making it, you’ll be stopping yourself from attempting to eat it.
Put all the scrub into the jar and decorate the jar with christmassy things ( I was going to put a gold star or green christmas tree in glitter on the jar but I ran out of glitter).
Sparkly, smooth and exfoliated skin, what more could you want for those Christmas and New Year’s parties?
