On Sundays, don’t you just love to relax? Sundays are a day to relax and unwind. Whether you’re stressed out, exhausted from work, set aside some time in the week for yourself; that’s my number one rule. Look good, feel good, right? On Sundays, after a short session with my running club at Sweatshop, I love having a huge breakfast; Pact coffee and a small bowl of porridge with manuka honey or eggs benedict and a smoothie. That sees me through until the afternoon.
I’m writing this post just after finishing my day of pampering (but I’ll let you in on a secret….I overslept today and missed my running session. Whoops!) I’ve been a little stressed recently, so this was something I’ve missed so much and much sought after!
I start with music. Set the scene:
I bring out the diffusers or light a scented candle.
I absolutely love Archipelago’s scented candles. It’s a shame their monogram collection has been discontinued, because the scent is magnifique and the packaging is pretty. Plus, as it’s a soy candle, it means it lasts longer. I found this site that still sells Archipelago’s monogram candles so not all is lost!
My current favourite diffuser is Stoneglow Ginger & White Lily from John Lewis. The scent is really long lasting and perfect for the transition between summer and autumn.
Then I have a bubble bath with Molton Brown’s Eucalyptus Body Wash and wash my hair with Love Davines shampoo and conditioner from Ena Salon, located in a stunning and luxurious Georgian building in Holborn. I love the smell of the shampoo and conditioner and they really help to tame my hair.
Sometimes I don’t use the Love conditioner, and instead use Kiehl’s Superbly Smoothing Argan Hair Pak for the days when my hair is a little dry and a little frizzy (This particular one has been updated). I absolutely love this product; it has a scent that makes you feel that you’re at a hair salon and my hair always feels so soft and smooth afterwards. If you have long, thick hair this really is one of the best products you can use.
And what about your face? You have to scrub that face! I either use a scrub (made out of brown sugar and honey) or slap this mud mask on. I love this mask because my skin always feels so smooth and softer after.
Once I’ve dried off, I moisturise and put on a fluffy blue and white polka dot dressing gown. I’ve recently become a little obsessed with Bodyshop’s body butter collection and my current favourites are the honey, chocolate and almond body butters. Almond oil is full of many benefits, like being a deep moisturizer for the skin. The body butter smells so damn good and keeps my skin soft all day.
Then I just turn on the tv and paint my nails (I watched Mrs Doubtfire and Identity Thief for my post pampering today!). Do whatever you want to do, after all this is your me-time.
What do you like to do on your pampering day?
Whatever you do, remember to make it your number one rule: Thou Shalt Pamper Thyself.
